Have you heard the news? A fire station is officially coming to the community of Tehaleh! This is very exciting news not only to the community of Tehaleh, but to surrounding areas as well! With such massive growth in the areas served by East Pierce County Fire, those emergency resources are stretched incredibly thin. This means potentially longer call times for all areas served. With a new fire station, this will mean much quicker response times for Tehaleh (who is currently about 10 minutes from the closest station). This will also reduce the strain on other stations, allowing them to provide quicker response times to the areas they serve!
So without further ado, let us tell you ALL about this new station!
The fire station will be staffed by East Pierce County Fire 7 Rescue.
EPFR serves the communities of Bonney Lake, Edgewood, Milton, Lake Tapps, South Prairie, Sumner, Tehaleh, & surrounding communities.
This will be fire station 117, EPFR's 8th station!
The station will be located at 14504 181st Avenue East. For those familiar with Tehaleh, it will be on the Trilogy side of the development close to Wesley and Tehaleh Heights.
The land for the fire station was deeded to EPFR by Tehaleh's developer Newland in 2017.
Construction has officially begun! The groundbreaking ceremony took place on September 9th, 2023.
The station will have a learning component for the community, including a learning center, and fire safe landscaping with tips for homeowners on ways to landscape to protect their home from a wildfire.
The station should be fully functional in 15 months (around December 2024).
